Description

There are more than 20.000 species of Butterfies around the world.
Butterflies play a big role in the tropical rainforest by pollinating flowers, and by providing a source of food in their caterpillar stage. They are prey for mammals, birds and other insects.
Butterflies are also indicators of a healthy environment and ecosystem. Butterflies pollinate or carry pollen from plant to plant, helping fruits, vegetables, and flowers to produce new seeds. Pollination is essential to the survival of plants because it is part of their reproductive process. It is equally important for people because without pollination we would not have vegetables and fruits to eat.
