Description
The series of the six colorful butterfly stamps issued in 2023 is being continued in 2025 with six new native species. This new release features the Tropical White,
Tropical Buckeye, Lyside Sulphur, White Peacock, Gray Ministreak, and the Cracker.
For this series species with pronounced, rich colors were selected, which create contrast and visual dialogue with the soft pastel tones of the background.
The butterflies are illustrated in various poses, with wings shown open, half-open, or closed, adding a sense of dynamism to the composition.
The background is a stylized landscape, with horizontal bands of color broken by white lines to suggest a horizon, evoking land, sea, and the sky. The colors are
inspired by the pastel shades of Curaçao’s iconic houses.
To enhance depth and layering an additional layer of abstract white transparent flowers and leaves is placed between the butterfly layer and the background.
The shapes and their placement emphasize the posture and elegance of the butterflies.
The top layer is reserved for typography. The words ‘Curaçao’ and the denomination appear in a bold, white uppercase fonts, balancing the intricate illustrations.
The English species name is displayed in the same font but smaller in size and in deep red. The year is printed in dark blue or dark green, providing strong contrast
with the pastel tones, Whilst the Latin name is rendered in a refined , light, white typeface, which elegantly offsets the other textual elements.
