Description

About 450 Years Shakespeare
The actual date of Shakespeare’s birth is not known, but traditionally April 23rd, St George’s Day, has been Shakespeare’s accepted birthday. The year of his birth is estimated around 1564.

At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children. On April 23rd, 1616 he died at the age of 52. William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon”. His extensive works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and a few other verses, the authorship of some of which is uncertain.

His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Cpost International is proud to issue this souvenir sheet dedicated to William Shakespeare, commemorating his 450th. date of birth. The souvenir sheet represents a desk where William Shakespeare could have been sitting.
